Abstract: Recently, because of the introduction of renewable energies, the electric power system has become larger and more complex. Under such environment, the number of transmission lines has increased, on which heavy-load currents flow, and as the result, the transient stability has emerged as a significant problem. In this paper, we propose a smart approach in which we use the NAS battery system on a generator bus for improving transient stability, and determine the output of NAS battery system by the LQR control theory. Finally, we verify the effects of the proposed method for the transient stability on the IEEJ EAST 10-machine 47-bus system model.
